Chastity cages have experienced a spectacular rise as a popular sex accessory since the beginning of the 21st century, and more particularly between 2015 and 2020, thanks to their large-scale production and democratization. 

Their history, however, goes back much further. In the 19th century, devices described as “medical” were designed to dissuade men and young boys from masturbating. 

During the 20th century, a few craftsmen specialized in the creation of chastity cages, responding to the demands of a clientele adept at domination and submission practices. Like female chastity belts, these accessories find their place mainly in this universe. Contrary to some popular beliefs, it is unlikely that chastity belts were actually used in medieval times.
